Venue Sign does everything you would expect from the big-name e-signature platforms: guided documents, verified signers, tamper-evident records, and legally binding signatures. What it leaves out is their pricing. There is no subscription to maintain and no per-envelope fee on every document you send.
How Signing Works
- Staff send a document in one click. Your contracts become signing templates, and the signer's name, program or service details, dates, and fees fill in automatically from your records. Nobody retypes contract details.
- The signer opens a secure link from their email. No account to create, no app to install. Signing works with a finger on a phone or a mouse on a desktop.
- They initial each section you require and draw their signature. Just like the paper version: tuition or payment terms, refund policies, and other key clauses each get their own initials before the final signature.
- The document routes itself for counter-signature. The moment the first party signs, your authorized official is notified to counter-sign. Nobody has to remember to forward anything.
- Both parties get the finished PDF. The completed document is emailed to everyone who signed and filed with the client's record, where it can be downloaded again anytime.

Each completed document keeps its own signing record: when it was sent, when it was opened, when each section was initialed, when each party signed, and when the finished PDF went out. If a question ever comes up about an agreement, the answer is one click away, and the signed copy can be downloaded again by either party at any time.

How Every Signature Is Verified
A drawn signature is only as strong as the proof behind it. Every completed Venue Sign document ends with a Certificate of Completion page that documents exactly who signed, how their identity was checked, and how the document is protected from tampering:
- Signer identity, verified before signing - each signer must enter a one-time 6-digit code sent to their email address (or by text message when they were invited by text) before they can sign. The code expires in ten minutes, and repeated requests are rate limited.
- Recorded consent - every signer agrees to sign electronically before their signature is accepted, and that consent is stored with the signature.
- A SHA-256 fingerprint of the document - at the moment of signing, the document's full contents are sealed with a cryptographic hash. If even one character of the signed document were altered later, recomputing the hash would expose the change.
- An independent trusted timestamp - the sealed hash is submitted to a third-party RFC 3161 Time-Stamp Authority (DigiCert), which cryptographically attests that the document existed in exactly that form at that moment. This attestation chains to a trusted root certificate authority and does not depend on us, so it holds up even if our word were ever in question.
- Signer details on the certificate - the Certificate of Completion lists each signer with their signing time and time zone, IP address, device, consent, and the document hash they signed.
- A complete audit log - every lifecycle event, from the moment the document was created through invitation, viewing, identity verification, signing, counter-signing, and completion, is logged with its time and originating IP address and printed on the certificate.

Are electronic signatures legally binding?
In the United States, the federal E-SIGN Act and state UETA laws give electronic signatures the same legal standing as ink signatures for most business and enrollment documents. Venue Sign supports that with verified signer identities, recorded consent, initialed sections, drawn signatures, a SHA-256 document hash, an independent trusted timestamp, and a Certificate of Completion documenting who signed and when.
