If you sell products online, listing them on Google Shopping puts them in front of people who are already searching to buy, rather than people who are still deciding whether they want one. That listing starts with a product data feed, and our ecommerce solutions generate yours automatically.
What a product data feed actually is
A product data feed is a single file that describes everything you sell, in the format the receiving marketplace expects. It carries the details a shopper sees and a marketplace requires, including product titles, descriptions, prices, availability, images and product identifiers. Marketplaces will not list what they cannot read, so the formatting is not a cosmetic matter: a feed with missing or malformed fields gets products rejected rather than displayed.
Our ecommerce solutions come with a function which will allow you to submit a product data feed to Google Shopping through Google Merchant Center, Amazon, or any site that accepts product data feeds. A product data feed pulls data from all of the products in your site's database, creates a text file properly formatted and sends that file directly to Google Merchant Center for inclusion. You also have the option of previewing the data feed file before it is sent, or simply downloading the feed to your computer for manual submission to any web site that accepts product data feeds.
Built from your store, so it stays accurate
Because the feed is generated from the same database that runs your online store, it reflects what you are actually selling at the moment it is created. Prices, descriptions and availability come from your own product records rather than from a spreadsheet somebody has to remember to update.
This matters more than it sounds. The most common reason products get suspended from a shopping marketplace is a mismatch between the feed and the website, typically a price that changed on the site but not in the feed, or an item still listed as in stock after it sold out. A feed generated from live product data removes that entire category of problem.
Submit it, preview it, or take it away
Submitting a Google Merchant Center feed from Venue Merchant Solutions is simple. If you would like to preview the feed first, it's just as simple. And if you would prefer to just download the feed, it's as simple as pressing a button. The feed will be downloaded to your computer as a Tab-Delimited text file, which you can submit by hand to any marketplace that accepts one, or hand to whoever manages your marketplace listings.
Where the feed fits in the wider picture
A shopping feed puts your products in front of buyers on the marketplace. It does not, on its own, help people find your website when they search for what you sell. Those are two separate channels and the strongest ecommerce businesses use both, so that a shopper who is comparing prices on Google Shopping and a shopper searching for your product in their own words can each arrive at you.
Our support does not end with design. We can help you get the site itself found through search engine optimization, and we run the hosting, the payment processing and the fraud protection behind the store, so the parts that have to work reliably are maintained by the same people who built it.
If you are selling online and not listing on Google Shopping, or you are wrestling with a feed that keeps getting rejected, contact us using the support button at the top of any page and we will take a look at it with you.
