New design for Venue Communications

After receiving feedback about our website, we decided it was time for a major update. The problem was (as it always is) that we were so busy working on client projects that we didn't have much time to do our own housekeeping. To that end, we decided to do an intermediary change before the major overhaul.

You might have noticed a change on our website lately. Since 1999, Venuecom.com has always sported a white or light background.  Not anymore.

The new design for Venue Communications was a collaboration between the staff members. After receiving feedback about our website, we decided it was time for a major update. The problem was (as it always is) that we were so busy working on client projects that we didn't have much time to do our own housekeeping. To that end, we decided to do an intermediary change before the major overhaul.

Venuecom now sports a simplified, solid dark blue header featuring our new logo (thanks, Travis!). The navigation buttons have been spread around for more intuitive browsing with the main services we offer at the top and other link below in a lighter blue sub-navigation bar. This sub-nav bar also features an improved dynamic search. Start typing "email" in the search box for example, and you'll see suggested results appear below. We also added the equivalent of a vanity plate. Just type in the search box and you'll see what I mean. It made me want to keep typing just to watch it. (Props to Scott for that!)

The background has been changed from the traditional white to a midnight blue to make the content really pop, as well as to compliment the colors in the header and footer.

We're pretty happy with what we've done with our portfolio section. It's built to look like it's sitting inside a display case, which scrolls to showcase more websites every ten seconds. You can, of course, manually browse the selection as well. If the portfolio is so marvelous that you can't focus on reading the text on the site, simply click the Show/Hide Portfolio link just below and to the right of it, and our display case closes right up.

The right column of the site's content area features quick access to contact information. Below our phone number is a quick quote form. There's nothing much to the form, making it very fast and easy to fill out. Submit it and you'll get a call from us, simple as that.

Below the contact section we have a news feed, a link to client testimonials and links to some of the services we provide.

All this, as I said, is just a temporary change. We felt the need to modernize our own site's design a little. Coming soon, you'll see a much more drastic change as we go Web 2.0 with our site to mirror some of our more recent design work.
